The founders
Two women, one agency.
Suma Brokers began when two different paths came together to serve people better.
Founder
Mariela Scovino
Entrepreneur, author and founder of Prosite Agency.
Mariela founded Prosite Agency, a team of agents serving the Latino community, and wrote the book Latino Resetea Tus Finanzas.
After years building businesses in several sectors, she saw how a financial decision can speed up or stall growth. She trained to help others, and today her purpose is for every person to decide clearly, around what they truly want for their life.

Carla Scovino
Psychiatric nurse, consultant, patient advocate and life insurance agent.
Carla spent years in mental health, inside and outside the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and today she combines that perspective with technology and life insurance.
She brings to Suma Brokers the way of working of someone who explains things calmly and makes sure they are understood.
What she does today
- Consultant in root-cause analysis and problem solving for businesses.
- Creator of PassPro, PEAK and Presenza.
- Founder of Helonium Innovations: builds apps and digital tools for iPhone and Android, with cards that save to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.

Term covers a set period, for example 20 years. Permanent is designed to last a lifetime, and some types build cash value. An agent will explain which one fits your situation.
How much does life insurance cost?
It depends on your age, your health and the coverage you need. That is why we start by listening: there is no single price.
Do you work with just one insurer?
We are an agency contracted with Family First Life, and through it we work with several insurance carriers.
